Offshore
development becomes more and more popular. Not surprisingly American companies
start seriously considering this possibility but many of them are still scared.
We do understand how difficult it is to make the first step. There are lots of
overwhelming questions and the pressure is high. How does it work? What if
something goes wrong? Are there any unexpected downsides? This page is intended
to answer some of your questions and give you more understanding in contrast to
blind guessing. We will describe the offshore development process dwelling on
its pros and cons.
Why we go offshore
We have two Development
Centers in Minneapolis, MN USA and Minsk, Belarus. So what are the major
advantages and drawbacks of moving some of our development overseas?
The biggest points into
offshore favor are the development expenses and the availability of highly
qualified and motivated people, which allows us to drop our rates up to 75%. It
is worth noting that Belarus has been a high-tech oriented country for a very
long time. It created the advanced educational system and consolidated the best
resources in the IT and science.
The most significant
difficulty is the distance which we master by establishing strong communication
between you and our development group. Modern Internet technologies and
messaging services make our task easier.
Process
Contract
Many American companies had
thought about going offshore but never made the first step. The contract with
offshore company is often subject to the International, US, and foreign country
laws. That alone can make the job extremely complicated and raise lots of
questions with no certain answers.
Since we are an American
Company you will never have such problems with us. We deal with all unexpected
issues and we are responsible for all our deliverables.
Guarantees
Even experienced companies are
often unwilling to take any guarantee responsibilities. But we believe you do
have right to be assured in our deliverables. Here are several solutions that
may work for you and your company.
-
Insurance.
We always provide General Liability Insurance. Errors & Omission Insurance
and/or Performance Bond could be also negotiated.
-
Money-Back Guarantee.
We break the project into a series of smaller steps and limit the scope of the
guarantee to a single step.
-
Incentives.
By your wish we could negotiate a cash penalty and a bonus for late and early
delivery correspondingly.
-
Bug fixing and support.
We fix all our bugs discovered
during the guarantee period at no cost. The length of the period depends on the
particular project. We will also support our project in the future as we try to
establish long-term relationships with our clients.
Development
Offshore projects tend to be
more client-specific as we try to adjust our work to your particular needs and
requirements. Please have a look at one of many ways we handle our projects.
There are three places where
the work is being done: the client site and our Minneapolis and Minsk Centers.
One of our development groups is working constantly in the USA, either with you
or at our Minneapolis Development Center, and the other is operating in Minsk
Belarus.
Our US team consists of
several people responsible for establishing communication, making necessary
business/technical analysis, and mostly getting projects running. They will
create architectures and designs, write technical specifications and solve
implementation issues. This group will check project milestones and help you
with urgent problems.
Minsk team, leaded by one or
two technical managers, is responsible mostly for projects development,
testing, and implementation.
We try hard to solve possible
distance issues. Solid arrows on the picture indicate very strong and constant
communication while dashed arrows correspond to limited communication on a
when-you-need basis.
Additional Advantages
Offshore development brings
you some unforeseen benefits such as extended hours of customer service and
better availability of qualified resources.
Conclusion
We hope we answered some of
your questions. Please consider this possibility and remember that we are here
to HELP you.
